Step-by-Step Installation Overview

1.

Here is a snap shot of the engine before we start ripping it apart! Ready for the installation to begin.

2. After a complete inventory of the kit. We proceeded with the disassemble of the engine. First we removed the Air Intake assembly.
3. Then we proceeded take out the Alternator. (The left bolt is had to get to from the top. If you approach it from the bottom it will save a lot of time.)

4. Then we proceeded to disassemble the intake manifold. Here is how the NSX looks with the complete Intake Manifold off. (The EGR Valve has to be loosen in order to remove the intake manifold.)
5. Now that everything is out we proceeded to assemble the Blower and the Intake Manifold Assembly. Here is how the completed Manifold looked.
6. The installation instructions tells you to rotate the engine  bracket, however it does not clarify which direction. Here is the proper direction of the bracket.
7. Now it’s time to install the Alternator Bracket Assembly. Here is how it looks afterwards. (We installed the Alternator and & Belts after we installed the whole Manifold Assembly.)
8. Once the Alternator Bracket was in place we dropped on the Intake Manifold Assembly. (This Manifold Assmebly is very heavy and we recommend using two people to help drop it in place.)
9. After the Manifold Assembly is in place we proceeded with installing the Supercharger Pulley, Alternator, Belt, and Ground Wire. Here is how it looks once it is all cleaned up.
10. We then installed the FMU (Fuel Management Unit.) We placed it under the engine bay next to the heads.
11. Now it was time to install the timing control unit. We had to locate the CPU which is behind the driveside seat. Here is a picture of the completed install of the red box.
12. Now the hardest part of the Install was the Carbon Fiber Air Box Assembly. You have to take off the driveside rear wheel to install this piece. What makes it so difficult is that the piece does not want to fit directly in place. After a few minutes of tinkering with it, it will fall in place.
13. That’s pretty much it on the install. Now all you have to do is double check everything and take it for a test spin!

Survey
Here are some general questions about the installation procedure.

Question: Please provide us with a general overview of how the installation procedure went.
Answer: The installation was fairly straightforward. The kit was complete and every little detail was thought out. Overall, the installation went well.

Question: How long did the installation take?
Answer: It took around 7 hours. Everything was pretty standard.

Question: What was the most difficult part of the installation?
Answer: The toughest part of the installation was adapting the Carbon Fiber Air Intake Assembly to the inside wheelwell. You pretty much just need to play around it so that it will slip in the right position. Also the supercharger and intake piece weighs a good 50-65 pounds, so you definitely need at least two people to lift and properly place it down on the lower portion of the vehicle’s intake.

Question: What was the easiest part of the installation?
Answer: Everything else.

Question: Was the installation manual easy to understand?
Answer: The installation manual was great! It came with photographs and detailed instructions. I suggest reading a couple steps ahead because there are some cases where further steps are referring to the step that you are currently working on.

Question: Did anything about the installation process surprise you?
Answers: Just how easy the install actually went. Everything is honestly very straight forward.

Question: Were any strange tools required for the installation?
Answer: None.

Question: Let’s say I have installed an exhaust system and air filter on my vehicle myself without much difficulty. I am not a mechanic, but I know my way around the engine. Should I attempt this installation myself, or should I take it to a professional?
Answer: It’s always better to have a professional mechanic perform an installation of this type. We have familiarity with engines and understand the type of work that installing one of these kits entails. Also, for things like “torquing specs” our technical training, and practical application of that training, allows us to perform these tasks with precision. We’re an additional way to ensure that the installation is performed properly. Also, the computer wiring steps and the FMU installation could be challenging components if you aren’t familiar with those aspects of the vehicle.

General comments: The difference that this kit makes is night and day compared with the stock NSX! This kit puts you back in your seat and keeps you there, it’s the way a NSX should feel like. It’s extremely smooth and efficient. Plus, it’s the easiest kit we’ve installed and it looks great, too!
