Step-by-Step Installation Overview
| |
|
|
| 1. |
Place the
plenum spacer on top of the bottom plenum so that the Motordyne Gasket
is facing up. Keep stock gasket in original position. |
|
| 2. |
Locate the
3 Large bolts,3 medium bolts, 6, washers, and 6 plastic plenum spacers.
Place washer on each bolt and dab a little locktite on the end of each
bolt. The 3 Large bolts will go on the upper side of the plenum and the
3 medium bolts will go on the lower side of the plenum. After bolts are
installed, screw in the 6 plastic spacers as shown. |
|
| 3. |
Next
place the top part of the plenum onto the rest of the manifold and slightly
screw in the 6 bolts. (Make sure you do not pinch the rubber oil fill
spout in between the spacer and the plenum.) |
 |
| 4. |
Install
all the lose hoses. And proceed with adding the rest of the bolts on the
plenum. |
 |
| 5. |
The extra
long bolt goes in the number 9 hole in the plenum, which is located by
the throttle body. |
 |
| 6. |
Now that
you pretty much are done, you must torque all the bolts to the correct
torque specs and then bolt on the intake. |
 |
| 7. |
Now that
you are done, check for any vacuum leaks and then screw the plenum cover
onto the engine. |

Survey
Question: Please provide us with a general overview of how
the installation procedure went.
Answer: The installation was very straight-forward. I just
followed the directions to the letter and really encountered no problems to
speak of. The install manual is very detailed and the labeling of parts come
in separate bags, which make locating parts simple.
Question: How long did the installation take?
Answer: Approx 1 hour.
Question: What was the most difficult part of the installation?
Answer: Installing the Throttle Body. The Throttle Body does
not need to be taken off, however we replaced the Satin Upper Plenum with a
Polished
Upper Plenum so we had to take off the Throttle Body. If we would have installed
the Throttle Body onto the Plenum first, everything would have been a breeze.
The install does not require for the Throttle Body to be taken off of the plenum.
Question: What was the easiest part of the installation?
Answer: Actually the whole install was very simple.
Question: Was the installation manual easy to understand?
Answer: Yes, everything was straight-forward and labeled perfectly.
The only part that had me guessing was what size bolts to use for the first
6 bolts, which we clarified on step 2.
Question: Did anything about the installation process surprise you?
Answers: No, everything fit like it should.
Question:
Were any strange tools required for the installation?
Answer: A 4mm socket is needed however the install manual shows
a trick so you can get the tiny guide pins off without the 4mm socket. Also
a torque wrench is needed so you do not crack the plenum.
Question:
Let's say I have installed an exhaust system and air filter on my vehicle myself
without much difficulty. I am not a mechanic, but I know my way around the engine.
Should I attempt this installation myself, or should I take it to a professional?
Answer: If you're confidant in your abilities I say go for
it. Just take your time and follow the directions step by step. But if you're
apprehensive, I would have a professional do it. However I feel this is one
of the simpler items to install.
